REVIEW: Virgin Snow (Hatsuyuki no koi)

My first Korean movie review! XD Virgin Snow is a 2007 South Korean film directed by Han Sang-hye and starring Korean actor, Lee Jun Ki and Japanese actress, Aoi Miyazaki.

Plot
Min, a Korean boy, moves to Japan with his father who is a potter. One day at a local shrine, he meets Nanae, a beautiful Japanese girl with stunning eyes who is aspiring to be a painter. Min falls in love at first sight and finds out that Nanae attends the school to which he has just transferred. Their friendship develops fast despite their cultural and language difference. Yet when Min's grandmother suddenly falls ill, Min hastily returns to Korea without having the time to explain Nanae the situation. After his grandmother regains her health, Min hurries back to Japan but Nanae is nowhere to be found. Had his true feelings for Nanae not been apparent to her? Why has Nanae disappeared without a word?

Cast:

Lee Jun Ki as Kim-min

Aoi Miyazaki as Sasaki Nanae

Virgin Snow was directed by Korean director Han Sang-hye, but the story happens in Kyoto, Japan so the overall language of this movie is Japanese! Min follows his dad, to live in Japan as an exchange student for about a year, there, he encounters a shy Japanese girl named Nanae at a Buddhist temple and this is where their rabu rabu story begin.. XD

There is one problem that the couple encounters; language barrier. Min couldn`t understand a single Japanese word and Nanae, couldn`t understand Korean language. Using body language to express their feelings is somehow limited, so they tried to learn each other`s language.

This movie is really special. Korean and Japanese is the hardest language to learn but the combination of these two languages made the movie more fun and interesting. A really sweet and great movie, worth watching and at the same time you can learn the differences between Korean and Japanese language!^^,
