REVIEW: Marvel's DAREDEVIL Season 2
Marvel/Netflix's Daredevil Season 2 debuted last week and I only get to finish watching it last night!
The second season follows Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night, crossing paths with the deadly Frank Castle/Punisher along with the return of an old girlfriend – Elektra Natchios.
This season focused on the relationship of Matt Murdock with former girlfriend, Elektra and also his connection with Frank Castle/The Punisher as a lawyer. This season also heavily focused on The Punisher's origin story, what drove him to do what he does, his tragic backstory and his brutality.
If you enjoyed watching the first season of Daredevil, then this season will surely won't disappoint you! First few episodes of season 2 introduces you with Frank Castle, who is busy eliminating rival gangs in Hell's Kitchen. There are also some courtroom drama involved in this season, and the struggle of Nelson & Murdock's law firm as they need to find work so they can pay their bills.
The cast did a pretty amazing job, Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson feels more mature in this season. The format of this season is particularly different from the previous season. It is divided into few small arcs, like I said earlier, first few episodes focused on The Punisher, then in later episodes Elektra will be introduced and the arc centered around the courtroom. Also the final boss wasn't revealed until almost at the end of this season.
Daredevil's costume gets a little makeover this season, yes, new costume! Plus he finally gets his signature weapon!
Jon Bernthal is a PERFECT casting choice for The Punisher. He got the physique of Frank Castle, ruthless, and considering Marvel/Netflix's Daredevil is dark, violent and gritty, it is a perfect place to introduce this character in the MCU TV universe. The character wasn't well-served in the previous films and was always miscast, but Jon Bernthal did the character justice it deserve. Plus this guy is really good at playing bad guy! Remember Shane, the asshole from The Walking Dead? lol
Elektra is protrayed by Elodia Yung, brutal and sexy, she could easily made us forget about Garner's Elektra.
Wilson Fisk/Kingpin also made a return in this season! Currently imprisoned for what he did in season 1, but that doesn't stop him from being the "Kingpin", this time running the prison and making everyone in there including the officers his bitches. lol
This season ended with Foggy accepting the offer from Hogarth's firm, which formally ending Nelson & Murdock. Also Matt reveals to Karen that he is the Daredevil! There are no announcement for season 3 yet, but I would really love to see the characters to return!
My Verdict: 7/10
